Science Festival 2011

The first ever Barts and The London Science Festival took place on Saturday 2 July 2011, at Charterhouse Square.

The Science Festival is aimed at anyone with an interest in science and was a fun-packed day.

Here's what happened at the Science Festival:

Science Market

Research groups from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry exhibited their work.

Science Competition

Young scientists presented their latest research.

Performing Medicine

The crowds were entertained by the unique and award-winning project that uses performance and the visual arts to provide training to medical students.

Lecturettes

Leading scientists delivered a series of short lectures on how to grow your own body parts, the merits of eating your greens (and purples !) and whether chocolate is good for you.

Let’s Talk Hearts

Part of a series of talks, open to all, providing a forum to learn about heart conditions, how (and why) you should keep your heart healthy, and the latest research on cardiovascular health.

There were also breaks, refreshments and plenty of discussion in-between talks.
