Skills development and training
At Barts and The London all our students participate fully in a doctoral development training scheme, based on the Vitae Researcher Development Framework
Researcher Development Framework [DOC 1.77 MB]
This means that our students are well prepared to become successful independent researchers and fully equipped with the necessary skills to enter the workplace.
Over the three years of their research training our students work with their supervisors to identify their individual training needs. They then undertake training programmes from a range of activities offered by Institutes, the School of Medicine and Dentistry and by the Learning Institute. Points are awarded for each activity and students need to accumulate a total of 210 training points over the period of their research degree. Students are also able to apply for points accreditation for a range of outside activities, including external training course and conference attendance.
Full details of the training requirements can be found here: http://www.learninginstitute.qmul.ac.uk/resdev/pg/
