Genetic studies of alcoholism
In order to atttempt to localise genes affecting susceptibility to
alcholism Hugh Gurling and Chris Cook have recruited a number of families in which multiple
members are affected. Our linkage study
of the gene for the dopamine
D2 receptor produced ambiguous results, but we are currently embarking
on a genome-wide study which we hope may
identify other regions.
