Pharmacogenetics - Type of effect?
When considering responses to pharmacogical treatment one may be
interested in:
- Response to treatment
- Side effects
Most important variability will be due to common variants, but rare
causes of severe side effects may also be worth studying.
Effects may be:
- Pharmacodynamic - effecting specific drugs and/or specific
diseases
- Pharmacokinetic - effecting response to many drugs which share common routes of absorption and metabolism
