Pharmacogenetics - Genetic methods of investigation
One can consider four types of genetic analysis:
- Demonstration of effect - requires twin or adoption studies
- Segregation analysis to establish mode of transmission
- Implication of large chromosomal region using linkage studies
- Fine-mapping and measurement of allele effects using association methods
All but the last require the study of related subjects.
Many modern methods
to measure association also use family members.
