Exercises for course in genetic linkage and association analysis

I sometimes teach an introductory course in linkage and association analysis at Aarhus University in Denmark and in London.

The course provides people with some experience of the standard files and programs used to carry out linkage analysis and demonstrates some principles of data management. You can browse the exercises on-line, but the main idea is that you download them and set them up on your own machine, so that you can provide the exercises for local users. If you like, you can use the exercises as the basis for a course you teach (though royalties are then payable) or you can just have them installed on a machine in your lab and have people work through them in order to gain a little hands-on experience of the programs. Be sure to read the section regarding how to set up the exercises.

  • Here is a zip file containing all the exercises and example files for the latest version of the course

  • Here is a zip file containing all the exercises and example files for an earlier version of the course, including an exercise with slink

  • You can download my programs from my main pages

  • Here is a zip file containing some of the other necessary MSDOS executables (although you are strongly advised to obtain the full packages including documentation)
